Borobudur is a one of the most beautiful places in Indonesia, where the tourists will come across the huge mountain of statues. Situated in Indonesia in the State of Central Java, it is located in the southern region of Magalang.

It is famous among its visitors for its lavish and huge Buddhist Stupa.This Stupa at Borobundar is also regarded as the largest Stupa in the world. Many people believe that this Stupa represents the entire universe. This monument is well-known for its incredible grandeur and refinement.

The temples were constructed by King Wisnu. He was commonly known as Dharmatunga between 770 A.D. and 825 A.D.  This temple was made using the volcanic stones that were obtained from the ice-covered lava stones, which came out of the eruptions of Mt. Merapi. Elephants were used for transportation.

The construction of the temple was completed with huge efforts. This temple is an ideal symmetrical structure having square shape at the base layers, once viewed from the summit. The crown layers gradually become smaller in its size moreover, are circular in shape, with almost 72 stupas. The 72 stupas house the Buddha statue in it.

The nearest airport to this temple is Jakarta Airport. From the airport various options of public transportation are easily available. You can rent a car or else hire a taxi. There are many buses that connect the airport with the city-center. If you have plans of staying at Borobudur, then hire a car, else rent a taxi only for drop off, and make sure that you get a metered taxi.

Best Time To Visit:

The period between the months of May and October is regarded as the best time to visit Borobudur. It is suggested that, for getting best views from the site and staying away from the crowd, it is better to visit the temple in the morning.

Opening Hours:

Borobudur is kept open for the public visits everyday, from morning 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the evening.

Entrance Fees:

The registered students visiting this structure are required to shell out Rs 70,000 as the entrance fees, while the citizens of Indonesia are charged Rs 9,000. The entrance fees for the over-seas tourists are Rs 120,000.
