Denmark, a monarchy is located in north-western Europe; it consists of the peninsula of Jutland and adjacent islands in the North Sea and Baltic. It has land borders with the Federal Republic of Germany in the south. Largest islands are Sjaelland, Fyn, Lolland, Bornholm, Falster and Langeland. Nation is made up of Danes.
The capital is Copenhagen exists since 1167. The largest sea port and international airport are at Copenhagen. The stretch of water way covers 16 km. A mermaid stature on the rock erected in 1913 as part of the beauty, drive adorns the water shore. Some of the major cities are Arhus, Odense, Alborg, etc.
Highest elevation is Y ding Skovhoj at 173 m. Chief River is Gudena. Climate is temperate and wet, cold winters and warm summers.
Denmark consists of the Jutland peninsula, which contains the country’s highest point, and about 500 islands, none of which rises higher than 143m above sea level.
This low lying country is made up of plains, rolling hills, moraine ridges and broad valleys. There are many lakes formed during the Pleistocene Ice Age and coastal lagoons protected from sea by sand dunes.
Forests occupy about one tenth of the total area. A well organized system of ferries connects the islands and Jylland. Some ferries also operate on international routes, providing connections with West Germany, Sweden, and Norway.
A visit to the land is full of fun as there are bustling busy cities, castles belonging to medieval period, the dream like rural scenario, events like the Roskilde Music Festival and the wonderfully warm Baltic Sea between July and August. Cruises of different duration are organized for the tourist in the tranquil waters with all amenities on board.
Those with children will enjoy amusement Parks at Tivoliland, Christiania, Legoland Billund and Tivoli. The 1554 Egeskov Castle with museum on premises attracts many tourists. A three in one Round Tower Rundetaarn has astronomical observatory, a church and a library.
People from all spheres of life can be spotted here. A similar other place is the Tycho Brahe Planetarium or Omnimaxteater has night and day event connected to astronomy.
The numerous zoos display a wide variety of wildlife. There is the DSI Giuskud zoo, Ebeltoft zoo, Knuthenborg zoo, Randers Tropical Zoo, for family to see and appreciate.
Tourists are at peace with themselves when they visit the many islands along the coast and enjoy the land in between. A holiday here after a hectic life is very relaxing.
