Cuzco: Cuzco or Cusco is considered to be the gateway to Peru’s mysterious place ‘Machu Picchu‘. Once the important Inca city Cuzso has now become one of the best archaeological sites of South America.Though it is considered to be the oldest populated city Cuzco has now developed to be one of the best metropolitan of South America.

During that ancient era of the Incas this Plaza was called Huacaypata or Aucaypata. There are several ancient ruins in Cuzco. These ruins actually form the base of the colonial church and the famous Santo Domingo.

Here you can also visit the underground museum that displays nice specimens of Inca culture. There are several museums in this city. Museo de Arte Religioso was actually the palace of Inca Roca. Now it showcases great collection of religious art.
Apart from that other good museums are Museo de Are Precolombino, Muso Inca, Museo Historico Regional and Museo Municipal de Arte Contemporaneo. Apart from these there are many religious churches in this city. The church of Santo Domingo is found in the Qurikancha ruins. This church was twice destroyed and once harmed by the earthquakes.
But this church has its own beauty that matches the ancient ruins of Qurikancha. Convento de Santa Clara is one of the interesting churches of Cuzco. The whole of the interior is covered with mirrors which enhances the beauty of this church. The great gold-leafed altar of the Lglesia de San Blas is really awe inspiring. The beautiful carved pulpit attracts the travellers in general. You can aslo enjoy the Corpus Chriti festival here in proper season.
