Geneva is known for the location of many international organizations. This is the reason that around half of the population of the city comprises of the foreigners. Many of the most important institutions have setup their headquarters at the place.

The League of Nations which is now known as the United Nations was established here. Now the main offices have been shifted to New York, still the European office of the institution has its offices in the city.

The city is not just popular because of the world institutions here but also because of its surroundings. In the South west of the city is located the biggest lake of the city called the Lac Laman lake.

The position of the lake is equally spectacular; it is just nearby to the river Rhone which divides the city in two parts, the southern part and the northern part. The Northern part of the city has the railway station as well as the new city.

Towards the south of the city is located the older part of city, The backdrop of the hills and mountains do wonders for the beauty of the city. The older town of the city is a fascinating place to visit.

The city is also a place for arts. You can see arts and other things in the museums of Geneva. The city has an efficient transportations facility. There are a number of places for entertainment. A number of bars restaurants and hotels offer great food, accommodation and night life.
