One who loves to frolic on the snow and has in mind snowboard trips for his next vacation, may well choose Lake Tahoe as his next Ski destination. Located at California and Nevada border, this place is home to some of the best ski resorts in the world.
In fact there are in all seven ski resorts in the area- Sierra-at-Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Squaw Valley USA, Heavenly, Kirkwood, Mt. Rose and Boreal Mountain Resort and at least five of them regularly feature at the various top ten best ski resorts lists.
All of these resorts are self-contained with separate food and lodging destinations, snowboard parks, and are located in different mountains around Lake Tahoe. According to user ratings, two of the best of these Lake Tahoe ski resorts are Northstar-at-Tahoe and Boreal Mountain Resort.
Northstar-at-Tahoe
This is by far the biggest ski-resort in Lake Tahoe. With its sprawling mountain areas, shops and markets, hotel and restaurants and of course snow parks, this place is almost a small village and is called such in immediate localities.
You can get condos for rent here, too. As for your snow fun fix, you can get really high on that here with half pipes, quarter pipes, rails, boxes and all other usual accessories. The vastness of the place is the biggest attraction for the tourists.
You can glide down slopes after slopes and can get quite lost in yourself and the glorious nature surrounding you from all sides, without anyone close at hand to break your serene dialogue with nature.
Radios and smoke signals are ways to communicate your location to others. While the resort may not be perfect for families with small kids, all other groups will find it the best place to spend their Lake Tahoe skiing days.
Boreal Mountain Resort
The attraction of Boreal is, on the other hand, its compactness. This small resort is built atop a small mountain right beside Interstate-80. Like Northstar, the place boasts of a number of different snowboard parks, designed for different snow activities and has hotel, restaurants and bars of its own.
You will miss the vastness of Northstar here, but if you want to have fun while keeping close to the other members of your group, Boreal is the ideal ski destination.
