Packing a Backpack
Travel Guide 0 Comments
Packing a backpack may seem like a daunting task for some people. There are some things you should keep in mind before packing your backpack. Just keep enough with which you are safe and comfortable. Always avoid over packing as it can make your pack too heavy and turn a wonderful trip into a miserable one.
So keep your pack as light as you can. You cannot have everything at your fingertips but it is very frustrating to stop on a trail for one item which is at the bottom of the pack. A little planning can go a long way. Always remember the thumb rule – First thing you put in pack is the last thing you will take out.
Put your sleeping bag in a compression sack to save some room. While packing make sure that your warm layer of clothes, one pair of socks and rain gear are easily accessible. Some packs have a separate vertical compartment to store tents.
Next important item is your bedroll. Simply roll your bedroll and stow it on one of the outside straps if your bedroll is closed cell or open cell foam. But if your bedroll is inflatable make sure to stuff it in a tough stuff sack to avoid puncturing your pad. Next very important item is packing your food. Always make sure to store your food in two separate sections.
For the food which you will be cooking or preparing when you set up a camp, keep it out of the way or a may be in a sack. But the snacks which you may be eating while on a trail must be kept handy.
Pack your backpack in an efficient manner. Here are some tips that you may find helpful: • Always invest in a comfortable backpack with a strong frame from a reputed store.
A store representative will explain you all the features of the bag. • Balance the weight between right and left side of your backpack. • Choose a dark colored clothing so that stains are not too apparent.
Roll garments up in tight tubes to save space. • Gather together all things at one place before starting packing. Do not pack things which you may not use. Travel Light and Right.
