The climate is hot and wet tropical in the south; hot and dry desert in the north, marked by great differences between diurnal and nocturnal temperatures.
Zakouma National Park is a big attraction here. A boat ride takes the visitors to their destination. Even though some species are extinct, still there are 44 types of animals and 25 aviary species in the region. Sightseeing is done through safari ride. Visit Ennedi to appreciate and relish the desert. Gaoui lies in the proximity of the capital city and many tourists visit the place to acquaint themselves with the culture and habits of the natives. Sarh is located on the bank of river Chari. It is a good picnic spot in nature. Other things of appeal are the slot canyons, rocks in different shapes, desert, lakes, and old arches floating on sand dunes in Lake Chad

The country is not rich, but is in fact counted among the poor nations. The border conflict is sporadic, but continuous. The weather is not very comfortable, but it has its charm of nature wildlife and antiquity. Tourism is a developing industry here.
