Kuala Lumpur is a colorful city and has emerged as one of the sought after tourist destinations in the world. 1) Historical Tour – start off with Merdeka Square surrounded by Moorish – inspired buildings. You can then proceed towards Malaysian High Court or the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Across the road you can visit the Royal Selangor Club which has a beautiful lawn.
Take a short walk from the Merdeka Square to visit Masjid Jamek, the oldest and the most beautiful mosque. The Central Market is nearby where you can buy souvenirs and traditional crafts.
2) Petronas Towers – this is country’s pride and joy and was till recently the tallest building in the world. You can buy a ticket to go to the observation bridge connecting the twin towers. One of the towers has a shopping center, restaurants and a petroleum museum. The grounds of the towers have beautiful landscaped gardens, fountains, wading pools and a playground.
3) Bird Park – the city has the largest free flight aviary in the world, it covers an area of 20 acres and it takes a few hours to complete the whole park. It has a good collection of tropical and temperate region birds and the main attraction of the park is the large collection of hornbills.
4) Butterfly Park – the butterfly park is located very close to the bird park. The park has jungle-like vegetation and abundant fish ponds. You will also find an impressive display of forest bugs in the park.
5) Chinatown – Petaling Street in Kuala Lumpur is a must for every visitor as it is known as the “Chinatown” of KL. At the night market here your bargaining skills will be put to test as you can shop for anything from funky designer watches to herbal remedies. The food stalls are also very popular.
6) Shopping – spend all your tourist dollars here in this haven for shoppers. Almost all the big snazzy malls have some kind of sales running all the time and make the maximum use of this. The best buys are medium to high range apparels, cameras and traditional crafts.
